Patient Transportation for Medical Needs
For many patients with serious treatment needs, there are insurmountable challenges with getting to appointments outside of the area in which they live. For some, the cost of the treatment alone creates a huge financial burden. When these patients find they need treatment in other cities, it becomes an added worry for them and their families. Aviation in Action (AiA) works to provide a means for patients to reach much needed treatment with as little discomfort as possible. This can be achieved through the generous donations of those in the aviation community.
AiA has developed a program to support the regional medical needs of the Central Valley of California through donated, or at cost, flights for patients. AiA works closely with the other non-profits that support cancer patients in the community and the Community Hospitals in the Fresno area to determine which patients or family members need urgent transportation to specialists outside the area. AiA works with aircraft owners and pilots to find aircraft that can be used for transporting patients to appointments either through donating aircraft time, or both fuel and time. Aviation is a powerful tool; the difference this type of service can provide to people in need is life-changing.
